About Riad Dar Bousga

A restored Medina house turned intimate guesthouse — where the architecture does the talking and the welcome makes you want to stay longer than planned.

Our Story

At 10 Derb Tbib, in the Riad Zitoun Jdid quarter — a stone’s throw from the Museum of Dar Si Said and Bahia Palace — a traditional Medina house was fully restored and given a new purpose. The result is modern and warm in equal measure: clean lines, contemporary décor, and the kind of understated elegance that makes guests say it feels like home from the first hour.

The centrepiece is the indoor pool, set beneath the open courtyard. It gives the riad its rhythm: mornings by the water, afternoons on the rooftop with the Atlas Mountains in the distance, evenings in the courtyard under a sky framed by four walls. A children’s pool sits alongside for younger guests.

Today, Youssef and his team — including Yassin, whose warmth and attentiveness guests mention in nearly every review — welcome travellers who prefer calm over spectacle. And when dinner is served, it is Youssef’s mother who cooks: tagines, couscous, and traditional dishes made the way she has always made them. That family spirit runs through everything at Dar Bousga.

What Stays With You

It is rarely the grand gestures. It is the smell of bread rising from the kitchen before breakfast is announced. The way Yassin appears with a tray of mint tea exactly when you were thinking about it. The rooftop at dusk, when the city drops a few decibels and the Atlas fades from pink to grey.

Dar Bousga is small on purpose. With six rooms, the team can do things that larger places cannot: remember how you like your eggs, arrange a day trip to Essaouira or the Agafay desert, hold a table at a restaurant they trust. Couples love the intimacy. Families love the kids’ pool and the flexibility. Some guests book the whole riad for a gathering or celebration — that option is always open.

Most guests come for two nights and wish they had booked three. We hear it often enough to mention it.

Each Room, a Different Calm

Six rooms across two floors — some overlook the pool, others face the quiet patio. All share the same care for comfort and a deliberate sense of ease.
